I also love wacky inventions. But I am not one of the many Germans who love their cars even more than their wives and children. They wash and polish their cars every Saturday. I don't think that's necessary. My car is covered with an all-season protective layer of dirt which prevents the adhesion of new dirt. Maybe I should try to get a patent on this idea.

The grandfather of my grandfather was an inventor, kind of Gyro Gearloose. One of his inventions which is still in use in our house is an orange peeler, made of ivory. It is even sold today, now made of plastic. He also invented a machine for peeling beans. And he invented the first pinball machine which was purely mechanical. My grandfather played with it as a child. But I think my ancestor was never really commercially successful.

Yes, I am driving a very old Fiat Uno similar to the Cinquecento. I had another even older model before, but it ended in the junk press. My wife hasn't got a driving license yet, so I hope my current Uno will live some more years.

For my way to work, I normally use the bike.

I heared that Americans never walk or bike, they would even use the car to drive from one side of the parking lot to the other side. We also laugh about the size of the cars. But of course, this may have something do to with the different size of our countries...
