Mike - What's wrong with an episcopacy? Shouldn't there be some hierarchy of government for the purposes of accountability?
Well, it causes a clergy-laity system (ref.Rev2)
You know, in the Church, all should be brothers, and as for accountability, matters should be brought "before the Church", not "before the higher-ranking ones", remember (Mt18)?

In a biblical church, there is no need for hierarchy, only for coordination (on a level of "equals"), and that's what I mind.

What's wrong with cathedrals?
They're nice buildings, but they become centers of attraction and many people hold the concept that these are the best places to find God, which is a stark contrast to the truth of the Bible again.

Likewise, consider how these cathedrals were built usually, the builders commanded people that they'd gain favour with God for building (essentially slave labour) and would go to hell if they wouldn't, in many cases even worldly persecution would be exercised on those who wouldn't participate in the construction work.

As such, these buildings are a shame to the holiness of God and an affront to the words of Jesus - but I know some people like them, so what? Doesn't mean I do.

Effectively, cathedrals serve as a suppression mechanism of the respective holding church: they impress upon mankind the unworthiness to touch God and the need to find someone who can help them in that: creating the need for a mediatorship, dragging down the worth of being a member of the Lord's Body etc.

In Christ,
Mike K.
