Subject: From Schumacher back to Music

Like Tony I don't understand why Ralf and Michael earn so much money with driving in circles with a car, wasting much money and risking their and others' lives. I think it's idiotic, but nobody asks me.

Tony, you are refering to Ernst Friedrich Schumacher. I think he had some very good thoughts, unfortunately he was not a Christian but prefered other religions. The problem of such idealists is that they don't recognize that humans have a fallen nature. That's why Communism can never works and Capitalism works so well.

We have also two famous Kurt Schumachers in Germany.

It's interesting how we come from "Music" to "Schumacher" because there is no Schumacher who is a good musician or composer.

But we have Richard Schuman, a composer whom I really like. I particularly liked playing his songs from "Kinderszenen" ("Scenes from Childhood") and "Album For The Youth" on the piano. Unfortunately due to lack of time, I don't play the piano any more. By the way, his wife Clara was also very famous.

You can listen to the famous piece "Träumerei" ("Musing") from "Childhood" here as M3U and you can get the whole pieces from "Childhood" here as Midi files. Try "perfect happiness," I liked that most of all, but I liked them all.

On this page you can get "Hobgoblin," another piece from "Childhood" as MP3. On the page you can also listen to some other nice pices from Chopin - I really love Chopin as well.

Another favorite music I liked to play on the piano was "Ragtime," particulary by Scott Joplin. The man was a genius I think.

Besides classical music, I also like contemporary music, but not the latest developments like Rap, Hip-Hop, Techno. I liked Jethro Tull for instance. Sometimes I even like to hear music from the 60s, the Beatles. Here is a real "classical" piece:

Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade Of Pale"

I don't know whether they ever had another hit except that one, but it is really cool, so melodramatic, almost funny.

Like Tony, I also love folk music, if it is original and does not drift towards pop music. German folk music is however, pretty bad, even if it's genuine, but what the contemporary German folk music in Germany is the most horrible style of music in the whole world. Few things are more horrible, maybe atomic bombs or something.

Hubert von Goisern's band "Alpinkatzen" (sample) and Wolfgang Niedecken's band "BAP" (sample rm, sample wma) are rare exceptions of really good Germany folk-rock.

And of course I love Christian music, particularly I like the music of Messianic Jews. You can listen to some here.
