Tony, you are implying that the Jews were too harsh and acted unjustly in taking "Palestine".

Lets look at how God ordered them to take the land the first time!
Joshua 1:9 says "I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised MOses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates-all the Hittite country- to the Great Sea on the west."

Now the problem with God giving the land of Canaanites and the Hittites are the Canaanites and the Hittites!

What about all the people living in the land before Joshua and the Hebrews?

Joshua 3: 7-13 "Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God. This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly DRIVE OUT before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites."

What does that phrase "drive out" mean? Is this wrong? Is God being unjust?

Here is what God meant by "drive out".
God ordered Joshua and future Israelite leaders to 'ethnically cleanse' the area. Joshua 6:21 "They devoted the city to the Lord and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it-men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys." They went even further then ethnic cleansing, they destroyed their material posessions. Again read I Samuel, chapter 15. Here God actually gets angry with Saul for not completely destroying and killing all the inhabitants.

Now please don't misunderstand what I am writing. I am making a very specific point. And that is, as far as it relates to the Jews(Israelites) taking possession of the land that God promised them, the Jews have the power of life and death.

But lets look at the beginning of modern Israel.
Lets look at 1948 and beyond. Immediately after the formation of Israel, Egypt announced a jihad and Israel was attacked by multiple countries and armies. Result? Israel is victorious. Later on in 1964?(Yom Kippur war) Israel is attacked again and again. Result, Israel wins and captures the Sinai peninsula and Golan heights. Clearly, God is pleased that Israel has become a nation and his hand of protection is with them. (Evidence points to that) I'm not a scholar but I think this even fullfills an end time prophecy.(at least one prophecy)

In America, many white supremecists have taken up the cause of the Palestians as a means of opposing Israel. I don't think it's motivated by compassion as much as hatred of Jews.
I don't think you are one of these people, I think you have genuine feelings. All I would say is put the word of God ahead of your feelings as it relates to God's people reclaming what rightfully belongs to them.

>>>Yes I am English, but my wife is French.
> I do have sympathy with the Palestinians. The Jews
>may be Gods chosen people, but I think that the way
>Palestine was taken over in 1948 was not exactly to
>the glory of God, wouldn't you agree.
