英小島中學 12教師教2學生

【明報專訊】在英國東北部一個偏遠小離島，有一間全國規模最小的中學，有12名教師，學生卻只有2人，師生比例為6:1 。為了這對少年兄弟能接受教育，這間中學逃過「殺校」命運獲准保留，島上還有一條號稱歐洲最小的機場跑道，3名教師每周乘坐小飛機來上課。

兩名學生──13歲的布賴恩及14歲的克里斯托弗，成為全英接受最高教育成本的學生，教育部每年為他們花9.2萬鎊（約130萬港元）。他們的校長也是他們的班主任，任教大多數科目﹔但在每周四，3名分別任教語言、音樂和美工的老師會從主島飛來，島上還有兩名兼職教師，兩兄弟也各自有一部手提電腦做功課。

這學校位於一個叫Perrie（當地口語，意思是「小」）的小島上，是雪特蘭群島上6間面臨「殺校」命運的學校之一，但在家長抗爭下，當局上周終收回殺校令，令這對兄弟不用長途跋涉前往主島就讀和寄宿。這對兄弟十分反對要離家上學，哥哥說﹕「我認為我會思家。」弟弟也說﹕「我們會沒受到那麼多關注。」

Perrie小島是雪特蘭群島以東一組3個島之一，3島共有居民70人，靠捕魚為生，而島上只有兩間小蔬果雜貨店和一間社區會堂。但一名島民樂天地說，他們每間屋都有海景，又不用擔心治安。
