Here is a new school year letter to principals that you can use to publicize your program. Just copy and paste into your own letter. No credit is necessary.

Dear Principal,

Have I got news for you and your students!

In fact, I have news every day -- delivered to the schoolhouse steps.

You may already know about the basic mission of our Newspapers In Education program. Thanks to a very supportive publisher and circulation director, our newspaper has made classroom bundles of newspapers available for classroom use at very, very low prices. We believe the young people who read also learn to succeed. And we know for a fact that students will read the newspaper if one is available -- but it's a high-interest, low-vocab product that has something for everyone.

What's more, I've been working all summer long to put together some special programs and find new educational materials to use with the newspapers. (MENTION A NEW PROGRAM HERE, SUCH AS AN upcoming serialized story.)

Call me if you'd like to learn more about what our newspaper has in store to help teachers and students this year. In fact, I'll not only come to your school to talk about it, I'll bring some fresh doughnuts along for you and your office staff. See you soon!
