Subject: you CAN discuss politics here

A friend who hasn't posted yet asked if it was all right to post polital viewpoints here.

YES. But that is yes with one asterisk and this is the condition.

Because this is a web site that focuses primarily on education, I ask that your political endorsements be posted ONLY if they indicate how a candidate is addressing educational goals and topics. So, just saying that a presidential candidate feels this way about war or the economy is not acceptable. There are many other forums for those kinds of messages. But knowing how state and national candidates view education issues is important to all of us.

I reserve the right as administrator to take down any post that violates the spirit of the rule. I'm a very reasonable guy and a true believer in free speech. Other than that, I'll probably only remove messages if they are personal attacks on other posters, with private explanations sent to those involved.

And just so you'll know, I'm a political independent. I have served on state education committees for Demo Ann Richards and Repub George W. Bush. I call myself an Indy Indian.

Please share what you want sbout how candidates will or will not spend money on education issues.
