Subject: WOW!

After only signing on to the message board by accident, I was more than surprised to see the messages posted. This is our second year in FJRA and I chalk up our first year to a learning experience. My daughter loved her first year, which is why we are back this year. Maggie was always one of the slowest barrel racers and pole benders and most definately the slowest goat tyer, but she LOVED the experience! We spent last year "learning" and meeting a few new faces along the way. We regrouped over the spring and summer with a new horse and decidedly more time to spend on FJRA. My husband and I both come from families who are philanthropically involved and spend their time volunteering. I wrote my concerns to a director over the summer about not really having an opportunity to meet many people and she suggested we get involved! Well, duh, why didn't I think of that? She was right! My husband gave up his position at a local club to spend his time at FJRA this year (because it truly is about spending time with our kids). He is getting his feet wet slowly, but all it really takes is stepping out of your comfort zone and offering to help. Let's face it, we are all mostly there from Friday night right through Sunday afternoon. Take a few minutes to help out, the payback is huge. The kids will get to know you and you might make some real friendships along the way. We are looking forward to the rest of this year. A huge thank you to our Directors, Mr. Large for keeping things tidy in the arena, Dr. Esposito who came to our aid at Zolfo Springs and to the people who help out behind the scenes. I work for a non profit organization and I could not do my job without my volunteers. Kudos to you who do it all with a smile on your face. The Goddard family appreciates every one of you.
