Subject: little girl lost...my favorite out of ten written today....

oxymoronic she is
with her need for independance
and the shoulder she has to have
to cry on like a child
who wears her mommy's shoes
only to trip from the high heels
and then insists on the
polka dotted bandaid
because it matches the color
of her dolly's dress that she says
she's too grown up for
but secretly sleeps with at night
after being wrapped up in the blanket
her daddy bought one day as a surprise
that she keeps on her big-girl bed
which is so huge sometimes its like
she's on an island where she can
hear the water beating against the sand
but it too afraid to go swimming without
a lifevest and all she wants
is someone to come and rescue her
when all along everyone knows
it was she who put herself there
in the first place.
