So, today i broke your heart.
Do you think i'm proud?
i knew i was coming off
as uncaring, hard, cold.
Doing what had to be done
Telling you it straight
no bullshit necessary.
Then just talking on
about my life
as if i hadnt done this
As if i never said a word.
I know you think i'm heartless
But i have to keep it that way.
Because hearing the catches in your voice
Hearing your normally outgoing self
Become quiet and withdrawn.
Almost able to sense the tears
Welling in your eyes
And hearing your voice say, in a whisper,
"i'm going to miss you so much".
Would break me down
And make me stay in a place
where i shouldn't really be.
I'm sorry for what i did.
But i did what i had to do.
