David,

There are a couple of things you can try yourself to get the raccoons out of your attic, however, these methods seldom work. Here is a couple of Do's and Dont's.

Dont's

Don't use mothballs or ammonia. This will only cause the occupants of the home discomfort and will not affect the raccoons at all.

Don't repair any damage until your sure the raccoons are out. Raccoons that are sealed in the attic will do severe damage getting out.

Do's

Leave the attic lights on.

Place a radio on a talk radio station in the attic and play it during daylight hours.

Call a Licensed Nuisance Wildlife Control Technician to safely remove the raccoons that are in your attic. They can also help with preventing future wildlife damage.

Good Luck,
