Once in 1975 John made a surprise visit to his favourite AOR radio station in New York with a stack of albums under his arm. Once the dj had a chance to, somewhat, compose himself he asked John what his favourite album was. "Magical Mystery Tour, because its so weird."
The songs on side one were used for the BBC tv special and side two of singles released that year. Not really concieved as an album, the songs flow well with each other and have a very tasty flavor mixed all together.
The three standouts are "I Am The Walrus" loaded with tripped out imagery and local jokes, "Strawberry Fields Forever" from two different recordings at different speeds and different keys, magically edited together by George Martin at Johns insistance and "All You Need Is Love" the anthem for the flower-power generation.
