I Turn To You Lord

In youth you were my Lord God, my Saviour and my friend,
I felt so loved and so secure, on you I could depend.
I spoke to You as Father and read your living Word,
I felt You had a plan for me which would not be deferred.

But years went by and worldly things took the upper hand,
From worldly man to marriage, another way seemed planned.
I drifted from my love of You, You did not seem as near,
With such a busy lifestyle, little time to hold You dear.

Even when the problems came I did not lean on You,
Our children came,the bills piled high,
and so my troubles grew.
Through the years I struggled on and then the illness came,
But I realised that You loved me Lord,
and called out loud your name.

Gradually You came to be the centre of my life,
I know You are in charge Lord,
and help me deal with daily strife.
Slowly You have healed me, of my worries doubts and sin
And I turn to You in thankful love, A new life to begin.
