This book was okay. Andrew Clements has a bad habit of using the same subjects in all of his books. I like change and he obviously made little which to me doesn`t count because they made no difference. This book was too predictable which made it seem like an easy read book. Jack`s dad was too much of a dream dad. The popular one in highschool and running off to the army because of his grandfather who refused to give him a car. Then miraculously Jack`s father goes to see his senior highschool teacher and finds the janitor instead. The janitor is being overworked and just happens to ask Jack`s father to work certain nights. What type of hogwash is that?Seriosly Clements feeds what he thinks are plots into his reader`s head and they swallow it whole!

What I did like was all the action. Jack`s getting stuck in the steam tunnel and the gum plan. Jack was really scared there and you could clearly see the emotions. About the "whole I`m mad at my dad because he is janitor thing" Clements killed it. TO MANY WRITERS WRITE ABOUT THAT!WELCOME TO THE CLUB!!! If too many writers write about the same thing that kills the plot. The gum thing was original though it was interesting. When mad, chew gum and stick it under a desk and get on the Gum Patrol!!
Please keep this in mind when you read that book.
