Cheltenham Races -- Touty, 15:10:26 01/01/13 Tue [1]
It's likely we'll have somewhere in the region of £700 in the kitty at the end of next season.
Who's up for a day out at Cheltenham Races for the Paddy Power Gold Cup meeting next November.
Breakfast, Beer Kitty and drunkeness.
A few of us are planning on setting up weekly DD's into the society account to save up a few quid for bets on the day.
Thoughts or alternative ideas welcome.

Cyder Cup -- Touty, 13:30:46 12/11/12 Tue [1]
After surveying the captains and regulars, the majority verdict is to return to Celtic Manor for the 2013 Cyder Cup. This will now take place on Sunday 28th and Monday 29th July 2013 (which happens to be Dunny and Leon's birthday).
Game on.

Cyder Cup -- Gus, 21:43:23 09/16/12 Sun [1]
Cracking venue Celtic Manor and hard to fault, only reason i wouldnt mind a change of venue is to go back and replay a couple of courses we havent played for a few years.
The Arden course is better than the main course at Tracey Park and the Vale, love the PGA course at the Belfry but no idea what the Derby is like.
I'd be happy to go back to The Forest of Arden or The Belfry but i wouldnt be upset with another trip to Celtic either.
On a similar note do we need to pick a venue with two courses? Or would somewhere new with one really nice course be ok for everyone?
I dont mind playing the same course twice as it opens up a few more venues which great deals, for example;
The Abbey
The Oxforshire
Heythrop Park
Or for a two course venue Hawkstone Park?

Cyder Cup -- Touty, 10:20:19 09/15/12 Sat [1]
Busy putting next years schedule together, keeping the best of the hour long drive courses, introducing some more local ones and looking for value for money across the board.
Cyder Cup - we talked about returning to Celtic Manor and looking at upgrading to the 2010. Having looked at the cost, it exceeds £200 and this is considered too expensive.
Options are:
1) Return to Celtic Manor on the same package as last year for somewhere in the region of £130pp.
2) Return to a previous venue (Belfry, Forest of Arden, St Pierre, the Vale or Tracey Park).
3) Look at somewhere new within an hours drive.
Thoughts?

I would suggest that you crown Smithy as we tried to chuck him out of our comp but he threw the toy's out the pram and we had to give him a place as wild card.PS that lad Joe would have been a worthy winner if he could have made it

Or, have i just taken what might have been a tongue in cheak comment by Touty seriously...

Fvck it, crown Menzo so we can all laugh at Smithy next time we see him.

Champ of Champs -- Gus, 18:10:15 08/27/12 Mon [1]
For continuity purposes and in all honesty fairness to all involved Smithy is and was crowned Champ of Champs last Saturday. The original criteria to qualify for that honour was that you had to win an event to qualify and the simple fact remains Menzo did not win an event prior to last Saturday and you can't qualify for an event once it has already started.
I thought the reason the nights stay over wasn't handed to Smithy was because that prize was opened up to everyone that had either won an event or supported the tour for 10 events or more...or am i wrong in thinking that?
So, in my opinion the Champ of Champs is Smithy and his name should be on the honours board but going forward the criteria for qualification could be altered to include winners and significant supporters of the society so that we only need one competition for the end of year finale.
But, and this is the bit that probably causes the confusion, if the qualification rules for the Champ of Champs was changed to 'winners and players who had participated in 10 events or more' then by definition Menzo qualified for the Champ of Champs prior to the event starting on Saturday and should be crowned as such.
So, was mezo in the Champ of Champs or was he in the Chump of Chumps but qualified for the stay away through his support for the society?
In my opinion it depends on what the final qualification rules were for the 'Champ of Champs' and whether everyone was aware of this (to be honest i wasn't) before the first ball was hit on Saturday.

Honours Board -- Touty, 15:42:54 08/27/12 Mon [1]
Question: With the slight tweak to the end of season events to incorporate all members who have played 50% of games or more, who's name should go on the honours board as the champ of champs?
Strictly speaking it should be Smithy as Menzo had not won a game prior to the chanmp of champs.
However would it not be easy just to crown Menzo on the grounds it means we only need to run one comp at the end of the year and in effect, by winning the end of season match he has won a game and could be considered the champ of champs?
Thoughts ahead of ordering names for the board please.

If you look at the Cyder Cup stats (click Cyder Cup tab above, you'll see there seems to be a trend suggesting the lower your handicap, the worse you are at pairs. Out lowest handicappers, Cook, Evo, Dominguez all have lost more than they've won. Whereas their singles records are much stronger. A touch of Tiger syndrome one thinks.

In what will be the largest Cyder Cup in it's history, it looks like the key to victory is in the hands of those with shots to spare in their current handicaps. Low handicappers will equal each other out as will the mid range. Key players this weekend for Team Skinner = Evans, Menzo, Gilly. Key players for Team Jameson = Lewis, Thomas, Ewers, Evans.
Prediction 9-12 in favour of Team Jameson.

The Jameson Express -- Still Favourites, 09:32:50 07/17/12 Tue [2]
Team Jameson maintain there form on route to picking up the Cyder Cup in a couple of weeks time. 15+ Victories on tour this year already leaving team skinner with 3 wins so far in 2012.
Classy Team Jameson still favourites to pick up the silverware whilst growing internal politics look to continue to de-rail team skinners defence.

Facts -- Stato, 10:07:15 07/17/12 Tue [1]
With 1 game left before Cyder Cup, 7 Team Jameson member have won in 2012, 6 team skinner players have won in 2012.
Looking back though the History books, society winners since 2010 during July have all come from team skinner....Who's idea was it for Cyder cup to be in July? Keith's? Great captain!

open golf -- Smithy (major picker), 20:35:53 07/16/12 Mon [1]
500 to one shot Sang-Moon Bae to be among the early leaders but sell if you can make a margin cos not got the temperment to last 4 days
likely North European winner with tough conditions, maybe Colsaerts,Anders Hansen or Robert Karlsson who should all give good each way value at 200's or more
Paul Lawrie could be the best of the 'brits'
what say you Lloydy

Bromsgrove -- insider, 18:53:06 07/15/12 Sun [1]
Is burket turning up twice? (no's 19+20)
will Menzo turn up at all? (Mr unreliable)
Joe with another £1000 worth of new clubs will be close but surely the little ginger fella got to come good if he throws away those posh clubs and uses something that matches his ability?
