I am in kind of the same boat as you are. I am not a pro at skinning, in fact, I have only skinned a deer once and nothing else. I was given a skunk to skin last night and not sure either what to do about it. I do know I want the hide.
I have heard that putting it in cold water for a couple of days will work for getting the smell out.
I also heard that using dish soap will make the hair fall off if not used right away.
