For history sake
In my last term we initiated a move to NAGE whic was approved by SEIU International. The plan was to join with IBCO and file legislation to form our own bargaining unit. Unfortunately, the red tape slowed the process down and it was not until the end of my term that we finally saw progress which Bob inherited and history told, he dropped the ball.
Now, the fact that we were and may return to NAGE IBCO does not put us in any bettr spot as under the service agreement, Local 509 still controls bargaining sessions. On a positive note, IBCO did provide better legal representation as well as a prescence on the hill.
So, any move back to IBCO is nothing without serious legisaltion to move us to another bargaining unit and based on the recent denial of our move to NEPBA, I do not think that will happen either. So, we just need to stay involved and force whomever represents us to understand what we want and need and irritate them until they do the right thing for the membership.
Hope this helps

Dave P
