>I have had the pleasure of meeting Dan twice through the years, both times nowhere near a concert. In 1989 ( I remember because my wife was pregnant with our first child) I ran into Dan and Anastasia on the street in Santa Fe. I was admiring a sculpture through a window and I noticed a couple standing right next to me. First I noticed the woman, who was stunning and then I realized who she was standing next to and I started to talk to them and we covered the sculpture, art in general, Santa Fe and after about 10 minutes or so, I asked him if he was Dan Fogelberg. He said yes and the tone of our little meeting changed as soon as he realized I recognized him. We parted ways after wishing eachother a great day.

I ran into him again in the mid 90's in a restaurant in Denver during lunch and just stopped by the table and said hello. He was with some guys obviously having some sort of business lunch so we said hello and left after a few minutes. He was very gracious then as well.

In my field of very specialized scientific nerds, I am considered an expert in certain aspects and am approached around town and at industry functions by people who I do not know and am always leary of what I say and how outgoing I am with them. I can understand how Dan is guarded in public. It can be a little wierd to deal with people who know one aspect of you and think that is the complete you.

I wish him well in his present battles.
