The Yahoo group was recently discussing those unexpected Dan moments that catch you by surprise, and it reminded me of this. It's related to Dan, but not strictly a Dan moment, I suppose. Awhile back a friend was telling me about her pilates class, and encouraging me to go. Her instructor, she said, worked in a fitness club nearby, and she also lived a few houses down from her. Maggie Parker was her name. I thought it sounded familiar, but then it wasn't an unusual name so I gave no more thought to it. Then my friend forwarded an email to me that included photos of the instructors at this club. I took one look and realized...it was indeed familiar because it was Maggie, Dan's first wife. Did I take a class? No...I dunno...seemed like an invasion of privacy or something. Maybe that sounds weird, but I just didn't feel comfortable with it. And I didn't tell my friend, either. I'm not sure if she still teaches there, or lives in the same house, but according to my friend she was a nice person. That's good enough for me.
