Yes, I was listening too. I missed some parts the last time they aired it, but this time I got to hear the full show. Really fun to listen to.....the songs and his humor. Boy, was he young.....and it was such a different time.

His performance is raw and loose, and the recording is certainly not the best sound mix, but it's still a great treat to hear those early days. Sure sounds like he was having a lot of fun that night. You kinda get a feel for where he was in that stage of his life....on a roll musically, and just beginning his romance with the Colorado mountains.

I second your suggestion of airing more shows. Wouldn't it be great if they could air a different show every year on Dan's birthday? While I doubt it could ever happen, it would be cool if some of the bootleg shows I've read about could be sanctioned for broadcast. The few songs I've heard were at least as good quality, maybe even better, than Ebbets Field.

But more seriously, you know Dan must've had more soundboard recordings from his shows, besides the ones he used for the live album. It would really be awesome if some of those shows were released on CD. He may not have liked the quality of some, but we would obviously love them all. And if it were possible to produce the CDs with a portion of the proceeds going to cancer research, it would be even more awesome.

These days, some musicians actually contract to have their shows recorded and sold right after the show. I imagine Dan may not have ever embraced that idea, but it's such a treasure for the fans. Who wouldn't love to have recordings of the shows we've been to, or for that matter, the shows we didn't get to go to. There are still songs he played live, that I've never heard. Jean has been increbibly generous in sharing with us....so maybe it could happen someday.

At least for now we've got the new CD to look forward to. And I'm very excited about that.....and thankful.

Kelly
