REGRETS

weigh heavy on a brain already set to descend thru depression
most valuable lessons're learned after the action in question
it's sad but the test is so subtle ya sometimes ferget ya takin it
then when the grades come in ya shame faced n shakin fists
most play to win, tho sometimes the game can get the besta you
no take backs if ya screw it, jus get back up n wrestle thru
I met a dude with no eyes stumblin blind down a windin street
said "hi s'nice to meetcha sir, can I help you find yer feet?"
n he said "child, with me it's never been a search fer the way.
the journey I take burns up the day, cuz I keep swervin astray.
but around those curves on the trail I experience much I wouldn't
if I'd stuck to one muddy road all the time trudgin through it."
the depth of his words struck my wooden, rigid perceptions
and soften them to sheets of paper where I've written regrets n
burned them in the fires of ambition, to never listen to reason
spontaneously shift with the seasons, then count gifts yer recievin
