That idea is nice, but it poses two problems: 1. What if the other uni decides to choose no damage done or some extremely small amount for a good attack? and 2. What about hp? How do we know how many hit points the other uni has? Which, unfortunately, brings us back to where we started. But I have a suggestion: Each uni can use one move--a spell or some magic type or a physical type. The other uni can use the same to block or to attack. To keep battles short, 5 successful offensive moves is a loss. And there can be no moves that reflect the previous move back to the attacker such as 'mirror' or something to that effect. There can also be no fatal attacks such as ripping out someone's throat or incenerating them. Follow?
