Hi Tom, I am not aware of any particular code that specifies that you would put the ground pin at the top. Most hospitals use metal coverplates and it is often felt that if the cover came loose and landed on the exposed blades,it would be a good idea to have the ground pin on top instead of landing across the hot and neutral. I wonder if there is NECA NEIS Standard that addresses this situation.
