Subject: Color Coding

It has been brought to the attention of our electrical engineers that the color coding standard for conductors that stay energized when main supply disconnect is turned off is different from our corporate standard. UL 508A 2007 66.9.1 stated yellow or orange are acceptable and NFPA 79 2002 had no reference however NFPA 79 2007 13.2.4.1 states wires must be orange. No reference in the NEC NFPA 70 could be found. We haved used yellow wire for this purpose and this is our company standard. The question is should we move to the NFPA 79 2007 standard of orange? The only potential problem with using orange is that the NEC calls for orange to be used to designate the high voltage leg on a three phase delta system. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?
