Hello all, I too am very excited to have found this group! I am in a bit of a different life than Gayla and Joanna, as I have 3 young children making my life very full and sometimes crazy but always happy with lots of love. My girls are Daisy, 9, Hazel, 5, and Stella 16 months. My wonderful husband and I will celebrate 11 years of marriage next month, and we both turned 30 this year! He is in the US Army and we are awaiting orders to move to Germany, which I am thrilled about.

We rent our home, so I am not able to decorate quite the way I would like (paint and such), but I try to work with what I have. I love vintage linens and dishes, and have quite a few pices belonging to my Grandmother and my husbands Grandmother. They are pretty to look at, but we use them often as well, as I do not believe in saving our nicer dishes for guests only- very meal with my family is a special occasion! I have found that the girls love to help set a pretty table, and everyone behaves better at a meal when we use the nice dishes and have pretty flowers on the table.

I am very interested in teaching my girls how to keep house and cook, clean, etc. in a vintage sort of way. It is devastating when I meet women from my generation who do not know how to do simple household taks, let alone cook and serve a wonderful meal.

It is challenging for me to do all of this though- to keep my head abov the laundry, dishes, and all while still giving our life a touch of elegance. I really hope to be inspired by you all here, as I already have been by Alison's site!
