I know I am home when I enter the north door (we never use the front door) and come into my large, taupe and navy kitchen. Then I usually sit at my table or in a big blue wing chair I put in the corner and my tabby cat, Sally, comes from under the red kitchen table (which was my great grandmother's) for a little brief hello. I really know I'm "home" when I put something fragrant on the stove to cook or I set the table, ----clearing off any of the day's mail, junk, keys, removed jewelry, etc. I love it when I don't have to go out again that night, and I often talk myself out of later night trips, especially if I've already put on comfy clothes... Light a big vanilla candle, and I'm home for sure.
