Well the thread didn't work too well, so I've removed it and just cut the tendon with a razor blade. Seems to have done the job well. There is no more tension on the thin white tendon. This also answered my own question. That it is safe to cut the tendon, because I still feel everything, so it doesn't seem to be some kind of nerve.
