Yes and no in my experience. I would say the first tie should be a close as possible to the glans, but not too deep. Essentially just use it to make subsequent ties easier and to better guide the final result. In my case I probably was 1-2mm too far away from where my fren meet my urethra opening (my was joined completely up to that point on the glans) and I've ended up with a tiny stub of skin. It is slowly going away, would I should have gone closer. Only my last tie (4th tie over period of 6 mths) was deep - as in close to the glans - enough that it resulted in flush skin behind the glans. Leaving a patch where no visible fren is found. :)

In terms of feeling......it is WAY better. Moving the fren nerves further down the shaft makes both sexual and self stimulation much more intense and long lasting. Can't believe I didn't do it earlier.
