Well in my experience there is a huge difference between mini nationals and the actual national pageant. Many mini natioanls are small and seem more like state pageants. If someone doesn't want to compete at a mini national that is not a bad thing. Maybe they prefer to do national pageants that doesn't mean they don't think the pageant system is good enough just not interested in mini nationals or who wins them. -- What happened at the pageant?

I doubt if anyone thinks the actual pageant system is SH** as you put it. Just probably thinks the national is going to be more competitive because they usually are. Probably could care less who competed at the mini national. Doesn't concern anyone unless they were there. Probably doesn't think its sh*t or "da bomb" just another pageant.
