What should a local contestant expect during her state teen interview? Current events? Topics? Do they stick to just getting to know the contestant? Any help is appreciated.

Subject: What is the recourse when a state MAOTeen winner is using the same platform and taking credit for authoring the same book as her sister is who is a state titleholder in another system. Both of them have nearly identical social media posts and it is troublesome. The state teen titleholder is qualified and a great performer. It is the lack of honesty and sincerity that causes the most concern. Not suggesting taking away her title... just wondering if there is any backlash? What can a state do to make sure this does not happen. OR is it alright because it is not spelled out.... you can both claim authorship of same book and identical platforms etc. ?

Help me settle an on going debate. Several years ago I attended a workshop or meeting of state ED's and was told that if you want a shot at MAOT your Miss State needs to have AP courses and a very high 4.0 or higher grade point average to even be considered for the national title. If this true or is it something that has been changed and academics don't play much of a role as they once did?

So now a teen contestant has to re-register for CMN? And now they don't take checks anymore? Contestants are told on the site that the checks should be made out to them personally and then converted to pay online or a contestant should instruct the person to pay online with their credit card, tell the donor to buy one if those credit cards at the store to make their donation, or get the credit card information from the donor and enter it. Says the cost of converting the check is too expensive. What? I am siting here with about $600 in checks from a recent fundraiser. Now what? Return them?

What is the average entry fee at the local level for teens in your state? In the midwest I've typically seen $125 as the going rate for a pageant entry fee, but I saw one local lately that charged $250! Seemed like quite a jump!

Subject: Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Inc. Named U.S. Chamber Blue Ribbon Small Business Award Winner

Author:

[ Edit | View ]

Date Posted: Saturday, March 05, 04:02am

Tampa, FL – February 18, 2016 – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has announced it has selected Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Inc. as one of 100 businesses from across the country to be named a DREAM BIG Blue Ribbon Small Business Award® winner. The organization was selected from a record number of applicants for its success and contributions to America’s economic growth and vitality.

“Small businesses across America today face more economic and regulatory hurdles than ever before, but each of these outstanding companies is rising to the challenge,” said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue. “These Blue Ribbon Award winners have worked hard, taken risks, and achieved success, helping strengthen their communities and local economies.”

MAOTeen will be honored at the 12th annual America’s Small Business Summit, June 13-15 in Washington, D.C., where one small business will receive the DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award and a $10,000 cash prize.

All Blue Ribbon Small Business Award® winners are eligible for the Community Excellence Award which recognizes one business that has found notable success in the eyes of its community. The winner of that award will be decided through online public voting going on now through March 4, 2016.

“We are proud to be recognized alongside some of the most competitive and impressive businesses in America,” said MAOTeen President Kim Parrish. “We encourage our supporters to vote for us until March 4th for the Community Excellence Award, which underscores the incredible outreach efforts undertaken by MAOTeen volunteers and participants over the last decade. They have contributed more than 70,000 volunteer hours and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthy causes annually.”

Founded in 2005 by MAOTeen Board Chair Donna Bozarth with a dream to invest in future generations through education, MAOTeen has evolved into one of the world’s leading providers of educational scholarships for deserving young people, making available more than $22 million in cash and in-kind college scholarships. In just a decade, it has developed nationally acclaimed competitions, mentoring programs and community-based initiatives that are active in every state.

“We believe in the empowering career skills MAOTeen offers young women, cementing our reputation not as a beauty pageant, but as a competition for young women to experience personal growth and become our nation’s next generation of leaders,” said MAOTeen Board Chair Donna Bozarth.

The DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Sam’s Club®, celebrates the success of small business and honors its contributions to America’s economic growth.

I see the main offices for the people who run MAOT have moved. I hope they got their child care issues worked out so when you call there aren't screaming kids in the background that you can't hear the conversation. It really shows a total lack of professionalism.

MAOT is moving their date in 2014!

This just was sent out: We are pleased to announce that the 2014 MAOTeen National Pageant will return to Orlando, FL on: July 26 - August 2, 2014

Please mark your calendars and schedule your state programs accordingly!!!

Looks like they are taking into account the move of Miss America back into September. This actually will be easier for those states that start school in early August. Its always been an issue for them having the pageant in mid-late August.

We were told that our girl should change her talent to dance even though she is not a strong dancer because even though her monologue was good judges do not score them well. Is this true? Has anyone ever won doing a monologue? we are disappointed because we feel she does a great job at it, but we do not want to do it for talent if she will never receive a good score.
