Subject: Movie Monday! What did you see this weekend? I

didn't see a movie, but I am starting to find some streaming shows to fill the void after most of my shows have had their season or series finales. I am watching Dead Ringers on Prime. It's based on the David Cronenberg thriller from the 80s that starred Jeremy Irons as identical twin gynecologists. I remember the movie well as it was really creepy and kind of traumatizing. The series version has the twins played by Rachel Weisz. It's also creepy. But having the leads being played by a woman gives it a modern twist.

We saw Love, Sarah, about a woman in England whose dream of opening her own bakery is fulfilled by her daughter, mother and friends after she is killed in a bike accident. Just a sweet story about love and dreams.
Started watching Joe Pickett on Netflix about a game warden in rural Montana. He and his family must weather changing socio-political climate and family dynamics. Beautiful scenery, a bit like Yellowstone.

in the theaters were exclusively aimed at teens/young adults. Right now, Transformers, Spiderman, Marvel, Fast & Furious and Disney aren't just the main attraction, they're the only one. I know school is just out, and young adults grew up with these old franchises, but why is there literally nothing else? Did the pandemic curtail movie making 1-2 years ago? We used to go to the movies 1-2 times a month. The last one we saw in the theater was Elvis, 6 months ago.
