The film pointed out old, bad wiring, smoking workmen, sparks from renovation work already in progress when the fire started. Faulty alarms, no communication, traffic blocking firetrucks, no water pressure, broken water pipes, bureaucracy. Every door needed several keys that few knew about, relics were hard to get to. They had given up on saving the cathedral, focusing on saving the art (paintings, sculptures, stained glass, relics etc) instead. A total nightmare. Amazingly, no one was injured at all, most artworks saved. The whole place is under scaffolding now, repairs underway, hoping for finish by '24 Olympics. Ain't gonna happen.

how much they were able to save and the condition of the cathedral. I have such fond memories of visiting Notre Dame when I was a teenager. I don't think I can watch that movie LOL! It sounds too sad and frustrating.

together over their loss. It did end on a positive note about the humanity that the cathedral represents. It's all good.
