Subject: LA about Atlanta and Helen

Sorry I was out of town and not really getting online too much but I saw your post about coming to GA for a wedding. I haven't been to Helen before but have heard it is lovely. Renowned for Oktoberfest. Very Alpine/German vibe I believe. Nice hikes around town too I think.

Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is big and busy but I feel like it is pretty well signed etc... Basically you will come in and then head down to the trains. You can walk if you want but if you come in on C/D?E concourse it can be a bit of a hike. Train takes you to baggage claim. Not sure about car rentals (assuming you rent one) it is off site and I think there is a train to the rental car center. If not of course there would be a bus.

Traffic can be a bummer depending on the time of travel. Looking at the possible directions it looks like you get on 85N and go through the city and then take 400N (which would be about 2 miles from my house lol). Shouldn't be too bad though there is a fair bit of road construction around.

If you have time in Atlanta the Aquarium is awesome. Also in the area is the College Football Hall of Fame (family enjoyed it but I haven't been) and World of Coca Cola which is basically the museum of Coke.

As for the weather your guess is as good as mine. March could be nice and Spring-like or it could be quite chilly especially in the mountains.

Hope that is of some help.

[> Wow, thanks AllyG! Yes, this does help. We will be renting a car and I guess I'll pack for both spring and winter LOL! I would -- LAwoman, 11:44:36 01/14/23 Sat [1]

love to go to the College Football Hall of Fame or the Aquarium (or both) but I'm not sure how many days we'll be there as it come at a very busy time at work. I had heard that Helen is sort of a German-type town and near hiking trails. I would love to have a day to just do a hike, but my niece's wedding is the main attraction for this trip. Thanks again for the info!
