Subject: Movie Monday! What did you see this weekend? I saw

West Side Story. I had to stream it as it wasn't showing locally in a theatre as it's now all about that bat dude LOL!
I'm glad I saw it at home. Friends who saw it in a theater when it first came out said to bring lots of tissues. Well, I had a lot of tissues! The story is well-known so it goes as it has in previous versions, but those songs are so iconic. We sang some of them in 7th grade glee club! Steven Spielberg does a wonderful job with the vibrant sets and big dance scenes. Ariana DeBose deserves her Academy Award nomination, but I would have included Rita Moreno, who was just fantastic.

I wished i'd seen it on the big screen, but it was still a visual delight. Spielberg did a great job modernizing the dialog, making NYC a star and bringing Rita Moreno into a reimagined role. Bravo!
I'm also halfway thru Drive My Car, which is really interesting. Will report later.
