I think it's my favorite of the nominated films I've seen so far. It stars Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Jude Hill, CiarĂ¡n Hinds and Judi Dench. All of them great. The autobiographical story by Kenneth Branagh takes place in Belfast in the 1960s when Protestant gangs start terrorizing Catholic families in a neighborhood that previously co-existed pretty well. It's told from the perspective of a young Protestant boy. Jude Hill is so cute and a great little actor.

The Tragedy of Macbeth. Believe it or not, I've never read it, nor seen it acted. Man, what a bloody, murderous mess! The acting is superb, the sets so stark and surreal. Very well done.

[> I saw The Dry an Australian film -- AllyG, 13:39:10 03/14/22 Mon [1]

based on the novel by Jane Harper. The story is about a guy, Aaron Falk, who returns to his severely drought stricken town for a a funeral after a tragic killing. It revolves around what happened in the now as well as what happened 20 years ago when his friend Ellie died.

I liked it though it might be hard to follow with all the flashbacks if you haven't read the book. But maybe not. I think the book did a much better job in portraying the drought as a almost a character in the story. Always fun to watch something different either story or actors.
