Subject: Movie Monday! What did you see this weekend? I saw two

films, one a documentary and one a drama thriller, both coincidentally set in Chicago. I actually saw the documentary The Janes on Thursday. It was rather prescient on my part as it sadly turned out. It takes place over several years pre-Roe v. Wade in Chicago where a group of very intrepid young women created an anonymous way for women to get safe abortions without getting arrested. The interviews of the women when they were older were fascinating. I highly, highly recommend it.
The other film set in Chicago in the 1950s stars British actor Mark Rylance as a skilled tailor (or cutter as he calls himself) who left England for the states after the war and whose shop is frequented by mobsters. One night things go sideways in the midst of a mob war. The shop is the only set piece in this tense drama that has many twist, turns, lies and manipulations. I really liked it.

I like Mark Rylance. Is the title of the movie The Tailor?
Animal Kingdom's new season has started, the boys still struggling with the aftermath of Smurf's death. Jay seems to be leading the group of felons, but Craig and Deran don't trust him. Also flashbacks to young Smurf.
For All Mankind, on Apple+ is a series set in the 60s, with a fresh take on the space race. In this story, Russia has beaten the US to the moon, and even puts the first female astronaut on the moon. Really great story, great 60s music.
