Subject: Movie Monday! What did you see this weekend? I saw

the Oscar-nominated film Anatomy of a Fall. The lead actress Sandra Hüller is also nominated as is the director Justine Triet. It is a French film that takes place in the French Alps and Grenoble. A man is found dead in the snow outside his family's chalet. His wife is suspected in his death. Some dialogue is in English, most in French, so a lot of subtitles, which I didn't mind. The courtroom scenes were fascinating as the French court system is much like ours, but also a bit different. Even my other half who hates subtitles was glued to this one. All of the actors were spot on. It had a realistic feel and you really could see both sides of the trial. I really like this one. Sandra Hüller is a German actress and she was excellent. I still have to see American Fiction, Poor Things and maybe Past Lives.

and stopped watching Griselda and One Day. ExPats was very good, excellent acting and complicated plot. Griselda had nothing but violence and horrible acting, especially from it's star Vergara, really bad. One Day was just boring.
We also have Color Purple, Boys in the Boat and Zone of Interest on our list.

Zone of Interest, but I tend to avoid Holocaust films. I get too upset I guess, even if they are well made.
