Subject: We saw the last of the Oscar winners, Zone of Interest
In reply to: LAwoman 's message, "Movie Monday! What did you see this weekend? I" on 22:51:22 04/07/24 Sun

It was kind of creepy, as you could imagine, about a family living in luxury in a large home next door to the outer wall of Auschwitz. They can hear what is happening, and see the smoke, but ignore it. A Polish girl leaves apples for the prisoners. The father is eventually distressed by his "success" running the camp.
We watched the semi-finals of women's game, then forgot about the final. Duh.

language films with subtitles. There was Parasite and Minari, now Past Lives, Anatomy of a Fall, and Zone recently. I don't really remember any others, unless it was Dolce Vita maybe? It's cool to see more inclusion.

willing to give it a shot. Some of the best films come from elsewhere. It's nice to see them get nominations in the major categories. I do want to see Past Lives.
