I thought I was bringing home an empty box from the post office the other day, but there was a kite in it. The kite is my new prism Flashlight. This kite is really light, even in its nylon bag. It is kinda hard to figure out the correct wind range on the kite since I've seen both the 1-12 mph and 0-12 mph on prisms' site and on other sites.

The romance of this kite quickly faded as I tried to assemble it. Most everything went fine, but I never bought a kite that needed this much assembling. I found that the standoffs were not on the kite. I'm not sure if this is a kite shop thing or if this is the way they come, but when I opened the sealed bag, only three standoffs came out. I thought I was seeing things. NO! Just three! Well on I went with the rest of the project... Oh and a project it was. There are little rubber grommets (o-ring) at the ends of the sail on each side. These o-ring things need to be stretched to the ends of the leading edges where you will find a slot half the size of the o-ring. On each side of this slot is a notch big enough to start smashing the o-ring in the slot. I am not saying that this task is not possible, but I could not do it and my wife could not do it. My wife gave up and I was taking a brake, both of our thumbs were numb, then my 13-year-old daughter cam home from school. I asked her to help me because she's such a know it all and I thought it would be funny... Ya real funny... She snapped each o-ring on in less than two minutes. I was never so happy and so pissed at the same time. I think I'm going to get her a Flashlight some day.

I called prism about the missing standoff and the people at prism were as beautiful as the Flashlight itself. A stand off is on its way and I also spoke to someone about the o-ring thing. Although his hints did not help me, he was very nice and spent time making sure I was happy.

I got this kite from Colors on the Wind. They are a very cool little online store with discounts after your first purchase. The prices are even low to start with.
