This is just a friendly reminder to all to please consider sending a donation to the memorial project in Peoria. If you have, thank you so very much! If you havent, please take some time to do so. Remember to find those instructions on how and where to donate on either Living Legacy or the official site. Every dollar counts! Let's do this for Dan and all the joy he has given us with his music! :-)

Glad you posted about this. I already made a donation last month, but your post reminded me about the PJStar article linked to in the last DF newsletter. I love that picture of the memorial rendering! I'd read the article online before that, but it was just text. The Living Legacy's scan of the print version is so much better. The picture gives a really nice perspective and grabs your attention. Whoever created the rendering did a beautiful job.

Occasionally I search around to see if there are any updates about the memorial plans or fund raising efforts, but there's usually nothing. I was looking around today after reading your post - didn't find any updates, but saw a great version of the pj photo on Theo Solberg's site. You may have already seen this version, Diney, but I hadn't, and it's just beautiful! Apparently Theo contacted Hugh for the photo so he could help out by posting it along with donation info on his site. It's great as a visual reminder for fans to donate. For anyone else who hasn't seen the photo, here's the link: http://www.theosolberg.net/danmemorial.html

A forum is a place where you usually wouldn't find me, but I'll drop by now and then in this case.:)

Perhaps some "nice to know" background information on the background pictures on my page. I have taken these pictures in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, in March 2000. The left top picture shows Pagosa Peak, viewed from the Pagosa Lakes area. The top right picture shows a part of the San Juans in an area called Upper Blanco. When you're about to leave town driving towards Wolf Creek Pass, turn south onto Highway 84. The bottom left picture shows another view on the San Juans, a bit to the north of town. The bottom right picture shows a frozen Forest Lake with again the San Juans in the background.

Theo.

Hi Theo, nice to hear from you. Your page for the Peoria Memorial is lovely. The photo provides so much more than a text description ever could. I think it should certainly be helpful in raising funds for the memorial. If it's alright with you, I could place a link to your page at the top of the forum, so hopefully more people will have a chance to see it.

You also have many beautiful photos in the gallery on your site. Very nice work!

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

feel free to place a link.

And thanks for the complimeny.:) I'm quite sure you haven't seen them all yet, there are so many posted there. Artists, landscapes, art. Maybe you had already found it, but the best starting point to see all of them is http://www.theosolberg.net/en/photography/
Be sure to check the whole page with the pictures of Venice, May 16th 2008.:)

Theo.

Thanks Theo, I've added the link for your memorial page, and when I get a chance maybe I'll post a link at youtube and twitter. A lot of Dan fans visit youtube who may not have seen the photo or even be aware of the memorial efforts.

I may not have seen all of your photos yet, but I've seen a lot of them. All very lovely. Been to your site many times in the past. Especially love the USA and Ireland galleries. And I enjoyed the video of Venice's version of Stars. Very nice.

Theo, thanks for sharing the photos with us. It's nice to see the actual area for the memorial. And since you've been in contact with the Peoria group, I was wondering if you know how well they are doing with funding? Are they getting close to their goal, or is there still a long way to go? It would be nice to hear something about it once in a while. I was thinking that maybe if they created a blog site for the project, with updates every so often, it might encourage more people to donate.

Hi Kelly,

well the last update I have had on the funding told me that there is still quite a way to go. But that was some weeks ago and the situation might have changed by now. Eric Mills is doing quite an extensive mailing campaign on Facebook and this has surely increased the number of visitors to my webpage. To which degree this also has had affect on the funding, I don't know yet. Hugh gets an update on the balance of the funding once a month. As far as I know he's not considering a blog at the moment. I have also suggested we might add a RSS feed with news (might there be any) to my page, but we haven't decided on that yet.

Theo.

Well, it's great that Eric is getting your link out to fans, because I think the pictures are really helpful. Gives folks a chance to see what they're donating to. Occasional updates couldn't hurt either. Fans who have already donated might be willing to donate more if they knew the status of the funding. I'm surprised the Living Legacy hasn't posted the link on their site, or at least in the newsletter. It would reach a lot more fans that way. Maybe they aren't aware of your site?

I do not know if they are aware of the site. I only know the part in the newsletter of September where it said "monies have come in from as far as The Netherlands" was referring to me. As to whether Hugh has told them about the site, I don't know, I haven't asked. And I haven't told them.

Eric just told me that at least Deborah is aware of the webpage. He has discussed his Facebook mailing campaign with her and told her that it is linked to my page.
The Living Legacy site also still has an item on the memorial posted, so both our sites are doing their bit and there's no real need for a link I think.

Several plans have been set in motion to draw more attention to the project. I assume/hope you will hear more about this pretty soon in newsletters and such...
