Thanks for the response, and here's where I am with getting it all set up. I played the song and sent it in, and everyone wants to pitch it to the project currently happening. I DO NOT want that happening, so I've been holding off until the tribute CD is finished and out for consumers. My writing the song was a total spur of the moment deal. I didn't do it for profit, or for any other reason than to finally explain what I heard, felt, and read after Dan passed. So, right after the CD is released, I'll give the go ahead to start pitching the song (which I hope has strength enough to stand on its own for anyone suffering loss, a reason to say, woah, been there. After all, I didn't sit down and just write the song after I heard the news...heck it took me 8 months before I even picked up my guitar after Dan died.
Like you, Dan is a favorite of mine and has been since I was in high school in the early to mid 70's. I wish I could say I put a ton of time in it, but that's just not the case...it was quite quick and painless to write, but very straight up about that day and what we as fans relayed to his loved ones on the web site memorials. Thanks again for your response, and I will set up a way to hear it once its been recorded.
