There are only two rules here: 1) The subject is WINE and wine-related stuff and, 2) Politeness is the tone. PERIOD. The only way a thread will ever be removed is for attacks/insults of a personal nature, aimed at another poster on this forum. You want to call George Bush or John Kerry a clueless doofus, be my guest, but it will have to be related to their statements about WINE. Similarly, insults aimed at things or corporations will fly here. Wine Spectator is certainly guilty of the occasional Grievous Sin that moves you to speak out; ditto most other wine publications and/or critics. Just refrain from calling Parker's or Tanzer's mothers by colorful names they weren't born with. The reason I've started this forum is simply that Nature Abhors a Vacuum. I couldn't find any other forum aimed at the NW specifically and we have rather a lot to discuss around the OR/WA/ID/BC region. We can do that here. Obviously, this forum will NOT succeed as an attractive, eye-friendly website but the quality of discourse is what makes a good forum, really, not the trappings. If you encounter a technical glitch, by all means let me know so I can rattle Voy's cage about it. Last but not least, I beg you not to use this forum as a place to hone your stand-up material. That's not to say that you shouldn't try real hard to make your posts funny and interesting to read but I suspect we've all participated in sites like this in which 75% of the posts are one-liners in "witty" response to the post before it. Those, I may very well remove...unless they're funny. If you're actually good at one-liners, fire away. Thanks for spending whatever time you wind up devoting to this site.
