Subject: abercarn colliery diaster

hi
does anyone KNOW who put the names on the local history on this site, because on the abercarn mining diaster, 2 of the names are spelt wrong, it should read
GILBERT GLEED AND GEORGE GLEED not CLEADE, AS THEY WERE MY GREAT UNCLES, it has been changed on other sites, so does anyone know who i can get in touch with to have it changed,

Hi
The web page that you refer to "Entombed in Flood & Flame " is an exact copy of an extremely rare print published shortly after the disaster. I've used the same spelling and the same layout as shown on the original print.

I'll include a note on the page stating the correct names
ie GLEED not CLEADE as I have already done for Cidland, John* (see bottom of page)

Just to add that there is another name which is always spelt incorrectly on every website connected with this disaster (and also on the mine map of the disaster of which I have a copy). It is that of George Oxford. His name was actually George Ockford and he was my great grandmother's brother.
