Ch-ch-ch-changes are comin' our way!!!

1) December 19: soon after we arrived in Seattle for Christmas, Jill & Matt announced that we will be grandparents this summer!!! Wow!!! What wonderful news!!! :-D

2) December 31: after picking us up at the airport (just before midnight on New Year's Eve), the boss & the lovely "Miss M" announced their engagement!!! Double Wow!!! Another blast of wonderful news!!! :-D

3) January 25: we signed the contract to buy a home near Seattle!!! Triple Wow!!! What a year and it's only February! It's going to be a busy one!!! :-D

  - Thanks everyone! We have so much to do, but other than moving, it's all fun stuff! Busta, we've wanted to move to Seattle for over 25 years--we love the Northwest, rain and all. Most of our family lives there and very soon, our first grandchild will also. That's a powerful reason alone! :-) Dax has been interested in relocating DMP to the Seattle area for quite awhile too, and thankfully Melissa loves it there! It's one of the top areas in the US for videogame production and is a natural choice for anyone working in the gaming industry. Our new home is across Puget Sound from Seattle, but just a short ferry ride away. It's a small, quiet waterfront town--realy lovely. (NT) -- Lynn, 06:41:54 02/08/07 Thu

  - Thanks so much, Brooke! Actually, we'll think of you every day at our new home. There's an honest-to-goodness real babbling BROOK winding through our backyard (not saying you babble, of course)! It's an amazing yard, full of fruit trees of every kind (well, except citrus, although it does have an arbor with hardy kiwi growing on it), and flowering bushes & plants everywhere. Anyone seeing John Mayer in concert this winter?? I got to see him the 27th at the Amway Arena in Orlando for the first time and he was amazing! I've always loved his music and his guitar playing, but he put on a great live show. I'd love to see him again sometime. There is a website related to Untitled Orlando Project, originally Untitled Boyband Project, where former *NSYNCer, Chris Kirkpatrick is in this new show. There's a new video on this myspace that you should def. check it out!

Hopefully they'll be able to add more info about this new reality show on the website. It will be aired on VH-1 channel sometime in April 2007.

Untitled Boy Band Project
During the '90s, boy bands reigned supreme and the likes of Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC, 98 Degrees and O'Town ruled the airwaves, spawning a legion of imitators that seemed to multiply unchecked. As part of the boy band club, they sang, danced, and for half a decade maintained a stranglehold on their massive and overwhelmingly female audience. But musical trends are fickle and change overnight and the boy band phenomenon couldn't last. Suddenly, a whole generation of former boy band heartthrobs found themselves looking toward life after 'teen idol-dom.' VH1's new series "Untitled Boy Band Project" dares to ask the question, "Can four grown up boy band heartthrobs join forces to capture new fame and fortune?" In "Untitled Boy Band Project," premiering late Spring 2007, four boy band legends: Chris Kirkpatrick (N*SYNC); Jeff Timmons (98 Degrees); Rich Cronin (LFO) and Bryan Abrams (Color Me Badd) will live together for one month, create new music, a dynamic stage show and perform as a new pop group. Each member of the band finds himself at a different stage in his career. Some are confident, financially comfortable and just looking to make new music. Some have been forced to take a day job and still others may have faced profound life challenges like divorce and leukemia. Now with 20/20 hindsight, can they avoid the pitfalls of the past? OMG!!!!! D-Mama!!! Dax!!!! What is going on?! I haven't been to this forum in years!!!! I was feeling extremely bored and decided to pay a visit, I ran across my personally autographed Dax cd the other day. I popped that bad boy in my cd player and started listening instantaneously. I remember when I used to post here religiously. I've just been sooo busy the last few years working on my degree. I'm a Communications major and editor in chief of my college newspaper, plus I have a job and an internship as a producer at a radio station...on top of my keeping 3.0 GPA.

I hope all is well with you all and I went to the website and saw all the stuff that Dax has been up to the last few years and I noticed that he's been quite the busy little bee also.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannakuah, Happy Kwanza, and Happy New Year!!!

I will definitely be checking in more often, especially since I am on a break from school.

Yo all!

Me iz online again! LOL! ;-) Things have been crazy in the last few months. Well, first I lost my job. Or better said: they didn't or couldn't enlarge the contract so I got jobless. In fact I am still jobless but I am using the time to do a course. The job office is "sponsoring" this course as they think that my chances for finding a new job might be better after the course. We'll see...

Then I used to another flat. Geez, what a chaos, really. It was a chance to get rid of lots of old stuff that's been collected over 30 years, lol. But as you can guess it was a lot of work to really get things sorted, packed up and brought to the new flat. Still, not everything is in its place, lol. But we're getting there ;-) But in all that chaos my mom's had to go to hospital. Only for one night but still it is of course a factor causing stress. But now she's ok again.

Other than that chaos and stuff my year was once again filled with lots of fun at the bike races and I am looking forward to the next season.

OK, I guess my noon break here at the course is about to end so take care all!

- I hope the nice weather holds for you, Lynda. It's supposed to be 80 today! A little too warm for the holidays I think, but most people love it. I'm looking forward to maybe a little snow in Seattle for Christmas--if not, we can always drive a few miles towards the Cascade mountains and find some. Central FL usually has a cool down for Christmas week, and January can sometimes be chilly too. Generally, it's our best weather of the year though. Hope you have fun! I don't know of any special entertainment during that time, but you can check online and see what's happening. My highest recommendation, if you haven't seen it, is La Nouba at Cirque du Soleil (they have a permanent theatre at Downtown Disney near HOB). Awesome show! (NT) -- Lynn, 06:31:19 12/13/06 Wed
  - I saw the Cirque du Soleil information and thought it looked good. I'm with you on the Florida weather at Christmas. We were pleasantly surprised a few weeks ago to receive Jennifer McGill's email announcement about her recent engagement to be married, and Dax just told us last week about Erik Garbus' engagement too. How wonderful! Our congrats to both of them!

Love is definitely in the air. :-)

I just got a link for the Star Wars Christmas Album and it's kept me laughing through song after song. It's definitely satire and can be rather obnoxious but I love it. Here's a link for a free download.

You mean there's no Hawaiian rolls in Hawaii? :-) Yes, they are kind of a sweet bread--I think it's sort of like challah bread if you're familiar with that. I'm actually making a turkey & stuffing today. I already had the turkey when we were invited to have Thanksgiving dinner at Melissa's parents home--and since we're not going to be home for Christmas either, I decided to go ahead and cook it rather than freezing it for later.       - Turkey is always good. We've got enough leftovers for another meal today AND turkey sandwiches. I'm not familiar with Hawaiian rolls. I'm guessing it might be another name for what we call sweet bread. It's a Portuguese thing. I'm drooling thinking of the sweet bread I used to get on New Year's from my mom's hanai (adopted) family before the grandmother passed away. I think I might have to call them to get the recipe. It's been way, way too long since I've had really good sweetbread! The only professionally baked one that even comes close is on Moloka'i. His new book, called Empire, drops November 28. What's different about it is the fact a movie, comics and video game will also be developed off it.

It'll be interesting to read his take on a fictional future of America. Hmm, guess that's going on my Chritmas list!

Just out of sheer curiosity what do you all want for Christmas? I got my gift in September, a trip to the writer's conference. Beyond that, my family and friends know they can never go wrong getting me a book off my Amazon wishlist. :)

- One of my student got a new puppy, too. She couldn't come up with the name for her... everyone saying "I don't know".... so my colleague came up with an idea like this "DoeKnow". - He's SO cute, Malia! Is he going to be big or is he a small breed? I can't tell from the pic, and that helps with the naming process a little. How about "Uke" (for ukulele)? That's Hawaiian and would sure be original! He could be called Ukie as a nickname. Earlier this week, I was asked to promote Josh Kelley's New Years Eve show in Chicago. I was given access to the event's official myspace page, so I've mainly been spreading the word through that and my own page. Does anybody have any other ideas of where I can promote? Any good message boards/websites that receive high traffic from those interested in music, singer/songwriters, and/or are living around the Chicago area? One of the major radio stations is sponsoring the evening, so contests will soon be announced by them.

Time for the Great Pumpkin to visit again! Hope you all have a fun Halloween with lots of treats, and no tricks! :-)

We're having our big annual bash at the office today. Halloween is celebrated in a BIG way in the Design Dept. We have many creative people and this is the day we go all out. It starts about 10:00am and lasts until 4:00pm, with a little bit of work squeezed in throughout the day. Loads of food, fun wacky costumes, and decorated cubicles will be the norm today. Meetings will still go on, but they will resemble the bar scene in Star Wars.

Who's dressing up in costume today? Any office parties? Hope you have fun!

Brooke, and any others familiar with Nashville, I have a weather question for you. How often does Nashville get snow and/or ice during the holiday season? I have found some pretty good air prices for a Christmas trip to Seattle, but there is a connecting flight in Nashville both going and coming back. We usually try to stay further south for winter travel, but I can't find many options for the same price during the holidays. Our travel dates would be somewhere around Dec 19-20 and returning on Dec 30-31.

Is that commonly a snowy time or winter storm season in Nashville, or is it later in Jan & Feb? We don't have many other choices, so I may just go for it.

- Hi Lynn!! It's not usually snowy/icy during that time of year. It does get COLD and it has been known to flurry that time of year. But it doesn't usually snow until January or February. What a day! I had a little taste of what it would be like to have a natural disaster hit and it was scary. I've only been through one hurricane that I can remember and it was pretty minor. There were two earthquakes that hit the Big Island this morning around 7am, one 6.5 and the other 5.8. They were strong enough we felt them here on O'ahu, actually I woke up because my bed started shaking. The power went off virtually across the whole state and we started hearing they weren't sure how many days it would take to come back on. Then they started throwing around water rationing and shortages because the pumps that fill the reservoirs are electric. Not good.

After a dash to the grocery store to stock up on supplies, much like you do for a hurricane, it was back home to wait and listen to the radio some more. They were telling people to stay home and off the roads because it was raining hard and of course traffic lights weren't working. About 2:00 the electricity came back on. I was never so relieved to hear the air conditioner rumble. You could hear cheers and clapping around the whole neighborhood. We live a few miles from the electric plant so we were blessed to be the first area to have power restored.

What struck me the most was the mercy of God. There have been no reported deaths, no tsunamis, and no prolonged powers outages as feared. There is some property damage on the Big Island but it can be fixed. It may take awhile longer to get all the power back, but I think Hawai'i was given a miracle today. I know I'm thanking God for it. :)

Hey all,

I'm back from my trip and I have to say it was the second best trip ever. Not only did I get to see old friends and make new ones, but I had some very cool things happen.

The first one is I walked away from the writing conference with three editors from three different publishing houses wanting to know more about my writing. And these are three major houses in the CBA or Christian market. That's exciting to me. I'm not necessarily expecting anything to come of this because I still have a lot to learn, but it's a great opportunity to get my stuff looked at and get feedback to see what they are looking for.

While all of the above is great professionally, the best thing that happened is all the personal things that went on. It was just a real time of fellowship and spiritual refreshing. Exactly what I needed after all the stresses of daily life. We had an awesome speaker in Liz Curtis Higgs. She writes inspirational historical romance and also non-fiction. She alternately made me laugh and cry. It was just a great experience.

I'm still recovering for jet lag but I'm glad to be home and excited to see all the things that will happen in the coming months. I have a lot of work to do to get my writing ready to submit to the editors but I know I can do it. I set a goal to be published before I'm 30, God willing, and I'm a little further along on that journey than I was last year. I'll keep you all updated as more develops.

I am on vacation this week and my mom and I might come down to orlando, and I was wondering if they still had that mini recording studio at universal city walk I think it was at the hard rock cafe I remember it was by a reasturant and the studio didn't open till like 6:00p.m. that afternoon. I really need to do another demo cd of cover songs, like 2 or 3. I know they gave you a choice of doing a tape demo or a cd demo and I know the cd demo was more expensive like 20 something I think. It will get pretty chilly at night, but most of our really cold weather (freezing or below) always seems to happen around Christmas. Hello Everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for so long. I hope you all remember me.. :) I'm the 27 y/o I'll be 28 in 15 days...My bday is Oct.9. I'm also from Nebraska..I can't say life has been totally fair to me lately.
About 11:40am on May 8th, 2006 I went over to check on my grandparents. My grandma wasn't answering the phone or returning our calls. I went over by myself after I dropped my sister off at high school (she only had 3 classes) when I walked into grandma's room I found her at the foot of her bed. She was very cold and very heavy to move...she only weighed 180ish lbs..We gather she had been laying at the foot of her bed probably from 7 or 730am-when i found her about 11:40am. I was yelling Grandma and she responded with an uh huh 2-3 times..I had called 911 and as I was on the phone with them I turned her on her side and she again vomitted. I took a CNA class Oct. 2005 (thank god) I learned alot taking that and also the cpr classes I've taken. Come to find out she had a massive brain stem stroke...She was my rock! I have a very bad family history...My real dad took off on my mom b/c she wouldn't have an abortion or put me up for adoption..My step dad was married to my mom for 5 years and he was killed on the job...Grandma was all I had. Grandpa has advanced stages of Alzheimer's but is still at home. So I've now moved in with grandpa and my brother has moved in with us...but brother is a jr in high school so right now during the day it's all me. I'm the one that gets grandpa up in the morning, dressed, fed, taken to the bathroom, we have to do everything for him pretty much.
But...I'm plugging away and the frustrating part is the rest of the family (my aunts, uncles, and cousins) will not help us out and I have to give and take what I can do..I've had some amazing friends helping me out..One close one n particular...So I'm going to talk to their oldest son that's 17 and have him help me plan and I'm going to buy 3 tixs to Trace Adkins concert and take them to that in Dec. it's a married couple and its the least I can do..Just one of those because gifts! Sorry so long I'll type more later hands are hurting.

- Thanks Robyne. We didn't even have much rain. A few small squalls, but the worst one was the day before Ernesto limped through here, from a very far reaching outer band. I think it was much worse for the folks north of us along the eastern seaboard. If this is the worst one of the season, we'll be blessed indeeed. I have a feeling there's a few more coming though! Hey, Labor Day weekend is almost here--anyone have plans? We have a big Pictionary Chllenge tournament on Saturday night to redeem ourselves--"the Kids" have kicked our butts too many time lately. - I was relieved to hear Ernesto fizzled. I kept thinking, not again! You poor Floridians went through enough last year. My plans for this weekend include homework, writing and more homework and writing. I'm leaving on a trip to Dallas in a few weeks for a writers conference and will miss a week of school. That means everything needs to be done ahead of time and I want the rough draft of my manuscript done so I can pitch it to editors and agents. We'll see what happens. Tuesday was my last day of summer break before returning back to work, and it just so happened that Mr. Justin Timberlake was making an appearance at the Best Buy near my house. I wasn't sure if there's any country fans in Dax Forum... but I'd share it anyway.

Colgate Country Showdown, www.colgateshowdown.com, have been running the competition lately.

*NSYNC's Chris Kirkpatrick's uncle Jason Eustice, I think Bev's brother but it's relates to Bev's family tree, went ahead and participate the Colgate Country Showdown.

Jason auditioned the local competition and he won. He went onto to the state finals and won again!

Jason is now going to the regional competition in West Virigina this Oct. 14th, if he will advance the finals it'll be held on CMT.

Jason has alot of show gigs in Louisville, KY and Nashville, TN. I'm sure he post the show gigs info on his myspace.

On other news... Chris' youngest sister Taylor is actively involved with a new band, more like rock/alternative type of thng so I haven't hear her music yet since I haven't ask Bev yet... LOL. I'll keep ya'll update about her band if ya'll like to.

About 10,000 "American Idol" hopefuls showed up at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday with wide-eyed dreams of becoming the next Taylor Hicks or Carrie Underwood.

After waiting all night and standing in line for hours, most contestants got less than a minute to sing a few bars � and then the boot.

Michael Taylor, 21, of El Monte, who works at a customer call service center, was among those quickly dismissed from the tryouts. Fox publicity representatives were more sensitive, saying he "was not moving forward."

"This is just a stepping stone for me and I'm looking past it," said Taylor, who asked an observer if he could sing a few notes to demonstrate his talent. He had a nice soulful style � but obviously not nice enough.

Pasadena was the first of seven cities where producers of Fox TV's talent show planned auditions for the upcoming sixth season. Approaching the Rose Bowl, roads were clogged as auditioners hurried to meet the deadline to line up. Outside the stadium, early arrivals gathered � some huddled under blankets, some wearing headphones and silently mouthing lyrics. Others did last-minute makeup checks.

  - I heard from P-Mom, and unfortunately Paulina wasn't selected to "move forward." Not to worry, she has an audition today with a producer in LA that sounds promising. She's so talented--I wish she'd been given an opportunity to sing for Randy, Paula and Simon. With so many auditioning, I know pre-screeners are necessary, but this makes me wonder how many really deserving contestants are cut so they can get enough bad ones for entertaining TV. Here's a few photos from our recent trip to Seattle and the beautiful Olympic Peninsula.

Port Townsend, WA--what a beautiful historic little town in the upper peninsula of Washington state. We love Port Townsend! Plus, Waterfront pizza serves some really awesome pizza!

On the way back to Kingston to catch the ferry to Seattle. Glorious weather for sailing!

This pic and the one below were taken from Jill and Matt's rooftop deck. It was over 95 degrees that day in Seattle, but very breezy and cool up on the deck.

Chris Kirkpatrick was on the XL 106.7 (Orlando) morning show today and supposedly has been co-hosting all week. Today I tuned in because I missed him yesterday on air. During "Celebrity Trash Can" Grace brought up the new People article with Lance on the cover. Of course Chris handled the situation very well when asked about Lance Bass. He said that Lance did talk to him recently about the magazine cover. Chris said that all the guys including Lance are like brothers and that he, Chris, is there for Lance.
