I told him before I left, but you know my dad... He'll probably wake up this afternoon and be shouting around the house for me. I'll call later..." It was the same old story, but there was no resentment to her tone - she was long since past that. Her dad was virtually helpless and completely useless, but she didn't blame him for anything anymore.

  • He nodded understandingly...he knew exactly how she felt... after their dad had died and before their mom 'found her saviour' living with her was hellish, the drinking was insane, they'd more or less raised the kids alone.
