The only pizza I ever ate while I lived in Eastchester was Albanese's. Shortly after I moved to town, just after school began in the fall, I went there with some of the cast from the one-act plays that we were rehearsing. I was hooked. The thin crust with the puffy edge, the real mozzarella cheese that was stringy and hot, the wonderful sausage and pepperoni. Heaven wasn't Iowa, as is suggested in "Field of Dreams," it was Albanese's pizza, late evening, with a date or a table of friends. Springfield, IL has good pizza places, but none makes a thin crust and puffy edge like they did then on the East Coast.
