But then if you're in the general area you don't notice the incremental changes.....

The McMansion boom faded with the economy - huge ugly monsters on small lots. You'd be astounded at what they let get built...... Apple Annies across from the HS got filled with monstrosities close enough that you can reach two with an arm span.

Lots of illegal multifamilies with paved over front yards in some places. It's a pretty typical older burb - still lacking any real distinctive 'center' or focus like the surrounding 'villages' - think Bronxville, Scarsdale, Hartsdale, Pelham........

A lot less big old trees on some streets - they're dying off or coming down in storms. Few left where I grew up.

The old Chestnut at AnneHutch - near the playground held out until a few years ago but is gone now. Was surprised to see it go.

Biggest abbomination was a few years back when someone got the bright idea - or got something else - to take all the fill from the construction in White Plains and literally fill in the HS stadium, raise the Junior HS field levels a dozen feet (they're higher than Interlaken apts) and Anne Hutch - and Greenvale........ much mutterings of contamination, payoffs and ..... from an outside and uninvolved pov - it made NO sense and was a travesty.
