Didn't ESSO have the "put a tiger in your tank" slogan? When I was at EHS, gas was about 33-34 cents per gallon. During price wars (a thing of the past) it was cheaper. I remember that the station had a promotion, perhaps area wide: if the automatic shutoff stopped at all the same numbers, you got the gas for free. Once my mother gave me $5 to fill the tank, and the shutoff stopped at $4.44. I was in heaven but gave her back her $5.
