Muko, certainly I remember Alison Steele. I believe she even came and spoke at the high school in either 1971 or 1972. I recently came across the world's best doo wop site. It's called Rockit Radio (www.rockitradio.net). Not only do they play the doo wop and rockabilly (lots of obscure and lesser known songs) but they also sell airchecks (one hour of actual radio programs recorded back then for program directors to critique the jocks)They have an aircheck of Alison Steele from 1975 available. Also for those who may remember, they not only have airchecks from the old WINS when it was rock but also the old WMGM, back when New York had 4 AM rock and roll stations. The airchecks are complete with commercials and newscasts of the day. I've been thinking of getting the Alison Steele aircheck but first I have to work my way through all the Alan Freed stuff, then the WINS and WMGM stuff. But those were the days Muko, when WNEW FM had the likes of Alison Steele, Jonothan Schwartz, and Scott Muni. I understand WCBS has gone back to an oldies format but these days stuff like Billy Joel qualifies as oldies. There should be (but I don't know if there is) a market for a program which would play the Platters, the Diamonds, The Drifters, The Five Satins, The Del Vikings, Dion and the Belmonts and others of that genre.
