Our first two years in Tuckahoe, we had no car (what?). True. In 1950 we inherited my (great-) uncle�s 1939 LaSalle�with a two-pane windshield and running boards. Our first new car was a 1955 Ford �Customline� in which I took my drivers test. My first car was another inheritance�from my grandfather�a �59 Chevy Bel Air. I retrieved it from NJ and drove it to College, teaching myself to drive a stick on the trip. (I can still hear it.)
